So, guess what? I finally made an icon. Yep, after four long years! My original icon was stolen off of google, but here's the silly story of how I created my own.
The Procrastination Phase
For years, I kept saying, “I’ll make an icon.” Did I? Nope, I always found something more important. Playing among us, consuming brain rot, staring at the wall... you know, the usual.
The Sudden Inspiration
One day, a light bulb went off. Not literally, but you get it. I thought, "Why not today?" It was a random Tuesday. I grabbed my laptop, some snacks (obviously), and got to work.
The Design Process
-
Step 1: Opened Adobe Illustrator
Yeah, that took a while to find. Dusty icon on my desktop. -
Step 2: Stared at a blank canvas
Classic. For about 30 minutes, I just stared and stared.. -
Step 3: Drew a cube
It looked decent. My original icon idea was a cube, so there it was. -
Step 4: Got bored with the cube
Decided it was too plain. Needed something cooler. -
Step 5: Decided on a webpack wannabe icon
Why? Because Webpack is awesome and I needed something fancy. -
Step 6: Added some shapes and colors
Used the Ubuntu terminal background color. Because, why not? It's a great color, and I even used it in terminal version of my website.
The Enlighment
Scrapped the complicated stuff. Went for a simple, clean design. Less is more, right?
The Final Touch
After hours (okay maybe just one hour), I had my icon. It was minimalistic. It was the color of the Ubuntu terminal background. And it was mine.
The Lesson
Procrastination works. Eventually, you’ll get stuff done. So, here it is, my icon journey. Four years in the making, one hour in the doing. Totally worth it
Thanks for reading! Now go make your own icon, orr procrastinate. Either works.
